Mrs. Brake was raised in a little town in Ford County called Roberts. Always knowing she wanted to be a teacher, Mrs. Brake graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Reading. Mrs. Brake was a teacher aide for one year, 1980-1981, in second grade at Paxton. When she heard of an opening in Fisher, she jumped on it. It turned out to be a Title I Reading job which she held until 1995-1996 when she became a fifth grade teacher. Mrs. Brake is now entering her 37th year of teaching for the Fisher School District. Mrs. Brake wears many hats in the Fisher School District. She is the coach of the 5-8 Speech/Literary Team and the director of the High School All-School Play. She will be directing her 36th play this next Spring, and she's never repeated one yet! Mrs. Brake and her husband Mike have three children, Katie, who is married to Luke, lives in Fisher and has given them two beautiful grandchildren, Britney and Liam, Michael whoworks for MUTI and Jon who lives at home. When they are not working or visiting with family, you can catch Mrs. Brake and her husband making beautiful music together somewhere in Central Illinois as Mrs. Brake plays piano/keyboard and her husband is a drummer..
